Crying is good! And 'm terrible at letting myself do it. One of my worst habits is holding every emotion and thought in, not wanting to trouble anyone, until the smallest thing sets me off and, like Mentos in soda, it all comes spewing out.
I don't think there is anyone who doesn't feel not so great after a good, hard cry. Here is a short list of ways you can refresh yourself and bring your mood back up.
Take a shower or a nice long bubble bath. This is so you can calm down and relax after a tiring cry. Go all out and pamper yourself. Bath salts. Bath Bombs. Cover yourself in lotion after wards. You're goal is to feel refreshed!
Eat a light snack Crying has a tendency to zap all of our energy, give yourself a boost by having a small, healthy snack, like a bowl of fruit.
Drink a big glass of ice water You just cried out a lot of water, time to hydrate!!
Curl up and read a book or watch your favorite show It's also okay to just curl up and do nothing! Don't feel like you HAVE to get things done after a good cry. You can just wrap yourself in your favorite blanket (or more) and binge your favorite show(s)
Get up and move However! If your mood starts to drop, it's time to get up and move. Go outside if you can, get some fresh air. Get out of bed and stretch. Get your blood flowing!
Journal All of those thoughts and feelings that just exploded out, write them down. I know, for me, it helps to process everything. Sometimes, I just start feeling really emotional and I have no idea why, but then I grab the notebook and start writing and things start to make sense!
Fix yourself a cup of your favorite tea whether it's something
to relax you or to wake you up , tea is one my personal favorite things
to drink when I'm not feeling my best.
Take a nap Sometimes the best thing to do is just sleep it off.
But more important than all of this, don't let the fact that you cried and let it all out keep you down for the day. Take time to process it all and regroup, but don't let it keep you moody. Pick yourself and carry on. Don't feel ashamed for crying! I let it get to me far too much. Even the morning after I cried myself to sleep I feel down, ashamed, and even a little mad at myself. That needs to stop! Crying is okay! Crying is GOOD! It's a normal, healthy part of being human. We shouldn't be shamed for showing emotions.
Until Next Time,
Tierra Rose
