The plan is to move this summer so I'm currently saving as much as possible, which I, more often that not, feel like effects my ability to do more. But, the truth is, doing more in life doesn't have to mean spending a lot of money.
I need a little more excitement in my life, even if it's planned excitement. Which, at this point, it basically NEEDS to be planned. If I don't plan anything, nothing will ever happen! I need things that will take me out of my normal routine.
I'm a list person. I love making lists. I love reading lists for inspiration. So.......... I decided to make a list of things to do when life starts to get boring to remind me, encourage me, motivate me, and hopefully you, to go and do more with life.
Take a different route. Whether it be to work or while your running around town. Take the back roads. Go on different side streets. Who knows what you could find!
Learn something new. What is something that you've always wanted to learn? How to knit? Dance? A language? Read books about it! Find a class! GO LEARN!!!!
Read a book. One of my personal goals for 2019 is to read one new book a month. I miss curling up and reading and it's something that I'm trying to get myself to be okay with doing again.
Leave notes in library books. Okay, so this is something that I have ALWAYS wanted to do, but just haven't yet. You can leave encouraging notes. You can leave notes in books that you love, telling the future reads that you hope they enjoy it like you did.
Be creative. Do something. ANYTHING. Do something hands on. Even if you feel like you aren't a creative, make something. Write something. Play music.
Do something / go somewhere you haven't in a long time. A town. A zoo. A restaurant. People you haven't seen for awhile. Anything that hasn't happened for awhile.
Order something different when you are out to eat. It's so easy to get in our rut of "usuals" at restaurants, but go outside of your box and try something new!
Grab a camera and go look at the world through a different set of eyes. Go to the park or even in your own back yard! Shoot away!!
Talk to a friend that you haven't for awhile. Staying connected with your loved ones is so important for having a not boring life. Make an effort to talk to and spend time with your friends.
Try a new recipe. This is something that I really want to do. I want to try more things and just get better at cooking and baking in general.
Write down goals. Whether it be for the week, the month, the year, five years, ten years, or all the above. Writing down your goals makes them a little more real, not just thoughts swirling around in your head.
Go to a museum. This is something that I really want to do this year. I actually love museums, but never seem to take the time to go to any. Maybe set a goal of a museum every couple months?
Go to that restaurant or coffee shop that you've been wanting to. I have a LONG list of coffee shops in Kansas City that I have yet to go to and plan to this year! I'll keep you all posted on that! (Maybe I'll make a blog series or a page.......)
Start journaling. I used to do this all the time when I was younger, like 11-15 or so. But when I moved for college I just kinda stopped and haven't kept a consistent journal in 3-4 years. I know it helps me understand what's going on mentally and emotionally, I see it every time I actually take the time to write, I don't know what I haven't started it back up yet..........
Revive old dreams. Remember those dreams and goals you had a few years ago that you we on fire for? What happened to those? Did they get stuck in the back of the closet, almost forgotten, while life got in the way? I know mine did! I find things from when I was first cultivating those dreams and it saddens me that I have put so much on the back burner. One of my goals for this year is to revive some of my old life dreams!
Buy yourself flowers. I did this a couple of times last year, the first time being for myself for Valentine's Day and I love doing it! Having fresh flowers in my room really brightens my mood and I love drying them and saving them in fun glass jars.
Feel free to leave a comment below telling me what you do to keep life from getting too boring. I would love to hear!
Until Next Time,
Tierra Rose
